The Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences (SSUHS), Guwahati, Assam, has released the official notification for GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) Admission 2026 for the academic session 2026–2027. This admission is conducted for both Government and private GNM Training Institutes under the Directorate of Health Service, Government of Assam. Aspirants seeking a career in nursing and healthcare must appear for the GNM Entrance Examination (GNMEE) 2026.
Course Overview: The GNM course is a 3.5-year diploma-level nursing programme that trains students in general nursing and midwifery skills. It is one of the most sought-after healthcare courses in Assam, offering direct employment opportunities in government hospitals, health centres, and private medical institutions across the state and the country.
Eligibility: Candidates must be a minimum age of 17 years as on 31st December 2026. Qualification includes 10+2 with English (minimum 40%) from a recognized board. Exam Details: The GNMEE 2026 will be conducted on 28th June 2026, from 10 AM to 12 PM (2 hours). The exam consists of 100 MCQs for 100 marks with no negative marking. The question paper will be bilingual (English and Assamese). Exam centres are spread across Assam: Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Silchar, Jorhat, Barpeta, Tezpur, Diphu, Lakhimpur, Nagaon, Nalbari, Dhubri, and Kokrajhar.
