The Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) has released the official notification for the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) 2025 vide Advertisement No. 01/2026 dated 10 April 2026. This is one of the most prestigious and sought-after competitive examinations in Assam, recruiting candidates for Assam Civil Services, Assam Police Services, and 9 other allied state services. A total of 78 vacancies have been announced across 11 different services.
The APSC CCE is the Assam equivalent of the UPSC Civil Services Examination — the gateway to IAS-level positions at the state level. Clearing this exam means joining services like the Assam Civil Service (Junior Grade), which carries the rank and responsibilities of a Deputy Commissioner, Sub-Divisional Officer, or similar powerful administrative posts.
About APSC
The Assam Public Service Commission was established under Article 315 of the Constitution of India. It is the premier recruiting body for Group A and Group B services of the Government of Assam. The Commission conducts the CCE every year to fill vacancies in various state services and ensures the process is fair, transparent, and merit-based.

Eligibility Criteria
Nationality: Must be an Indian Citizen.
Residency: Must be an original inhabitant of Assam.
Educational Qualification: Must hold a Bachelor's Degree from any recognized University. Final year students who are awaiting results are NOT eligible.
Age Limit (as on 01 January 2025): Minimum 21 years, Maximum 38 years.
Age Relaxation: SC / ST(P) / ST(H): 5 years (up to 43 years) OBC / MOBC: 3 years (up to 41 years) PwBD: 10 years (irrespective of category — up to 48 years) Ex-Servicemen: As per rules where reservation is available
Language Proficiency: Must be able to speak Assamese or any official/associate official language or tribal language of Assam.
Employment Exchange Registration: Must be registered with a District Employment Office of Assam.
Small Family Norms Declaration: Must submit declaration in Form-A at the time of application.
Number of Attempts: No limit on attempts — candidates can appear as many times as they wish within the maximum age limit.
Selection Process — Three Stages
Stage 1 — Preliminary Examination (Screening): The Prelims is an objective MCQ test conducted to shortlist candidates for the Main Examination. It has two papers:

Negative Marking: ¼ mark deducted for each wrong answer. Paper II is qualifying — minimum 33% required to pass. Prelims score does NOT count in final merit — only used for shortlisting. Shortlisted candidates: Approximately 11–12 times the total vacancies.

Stage 2A — Main Written Examination: The Mains has 6 papers for a total of 1500 marks. Medium: English or Assamese (candidate's choice). Held in Guwahati only.
