The State Council for Technical Education (SCTE) under the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Assam has officially released the notification for Assam Polytechnic Admission 2026 for the academic session 2026-27. This is a major opportunity for students who have passed the HSLC (Class 10) examination and wish to pursue a 3-year Diploma in Engineering and Technology from any of the 26 State Government Polytechnics across Assam.
A total of 4,385 seats are available across 21 different Diploma programmes in 26 Government Polytechnics. Online registration is open from 24 April 2026 and closes on 10 May 2026. Importantly, no Polytechnic Admission Test (PAT) will be conducted for the session 2026-27 — admission is entirely based on marks obtained in the HSLC examination.

Eligibility Criteria
Residency: Candidate must be an Indian Citizen and a Permanent Resident of Assam. A valid Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) must be produced at the time of Counselling — without PRC, the seat may be cancelled at any stage.
Educational Qualification: Must have passed HSLC or equivalent examination in a single sitting with Mathematics and Science as compulsory subjects (without grace marks in Science and Mathematics). Must have passed individually in both Theory and Practical/Internal Assessment in Mathematics and Science.

Counselling Process (How Admission Works)
After registration closes, the documents uploaded will be verified online by Verifying Officers from respective Polytechnics (15–27 May 2026). Applicants may receive calls/messages/emails on their registered contact for document clarification — respond promptly as failure to respond may lead to application rejection.
The counselling process follows these steps:
- Seats allotted based on eligibility, merit rank, caste/category, preferences, and availability
- Candidate accepts allotted seat through the portal and downloads the Allotment Letter
- Contact the Admission Coordinator of allotted institution and report on specified date
- Physical document verification at the allotted institution
