📋 Step-by-Step Process
- Visit the official SCERT PET portal: https://scertpet.co.in
- Click on "NEW REGISTRATION" button
- Fill the Registration Form with your name, date of birth, and valid mobile number
- An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number — enter the OTP to verify
- Click "Go to Login Page" and login using your Registered Phone Number and Date of Birth
- Click on "Proceed to Complete Application Form"
- Fill in all required personal and educational details in the Application Form
- Click "SUBMIT & NEXT"
- Upload required documents one by one (in JPG/JPEG/PDF format):
- Recent passport-size photograph (max 100 KB)
- Signature on white paper with black/dark blue ink (max 100 KB)
- Age proof (HSLC Admit Card/Certificate) (max 450 KB)
- HS Marksheet and Pass Certificate (max 450 KB)
- Caste Certificate if applicable (max 450 KB)
- PwD Certificate if applicable (max 450 KB)
- EWS Certificate if applicable (max 450 KB)
- After uploading all documents, click "SUBMIT & PREVIEW FORM"
- Carefully check all details on the Preview Page and click "CONFIRM & PROCEED"
- Pay the application fee of ₹600 via online mode (Net Banking/UPI/Debit/Credit Card)
- After successful payment, download and save the Acknowledgement Slip
- Keep mobile number unchanged until entire admission process is complete

The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Assam has officially released the Admission Notice for Pre-Entry Test (PET) 2026 for admission into the 2-Year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) Course for the academic session 2026-2028. This is a major opportunity for candidates who aspire to become primary school teachers in Assam.
The D.El.Ed. course will be conducted in NCTE-recognized Teacher Education Institutes (TEIs) across Assam — including DIETs (District Institute of Education and Training), CTEs (College of Teacher Education), Normal Schools, BITEs, BTCs, and approved Private TEIs.
About SCERT Assam and D.El.Ed.
The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Assam is the apex body for academic and educational research in the state. It conducts teacher training programmes to prepare qualified elementary school teachers for Classes I to VIII. The D.El.Ed. (earlier known as BTC/D.Ed.) is a 2-year full-time residential/non-residential diploma course recognized by NCTE. Completing D.El.Ed. is a mandatory qualification for teaching at the primary and upper-primary level in Assam.
Why D.El.Ed. is Important for Assam Teachers
Holding a D.El.Ed. certificate opens the door to:
- Teaching in Government Assam primary schools (Classes I to V)

Eligibility Criteria
Residency: Candidates must be permanent residents of Assam only. Non-residents of Assam are not eligible.
Educational Qualification:
- Must have passed Higher Secondary (HS) / Class 10+2 from a recognized Board or Council
- Minimum aggregate marks: 50% (excluding marks in optional/extra/fourth subject)
- For candidates belonging to SC/ST(P)/ST(H): minimum 45% aggregate (5% relaxation)
- Must have passed in a single sitting
Age Limit (as on 1st July 2026):
- Minimum: 18 years
- Maximum: 34 years
- Age relaxation: 2 years for SC, ST(P), and ST(H) candidates → Maximum age: 36 years for these categories
Reservation: Reservation of seats will be followed as per the Government of Assam Reservation Policy for OBC/MOBC, SC, ST(P), ST(H), Persons with Disability (PwD), and EWS categories.

Exam Venue
The Pre-Entry Test (PET) 2026 will be conducted in the district selected by the candidate during online application. Candidates must carefully choose their preferred district as the exam centre, admit card, and seat allotment will all be based on the chosen district.
Important: Seats in Teacher Education Institutes (TEIs) will also be allotted in the district chosen by the candidate at the time of application. Choose wisely!
Result and Process After PET
- PET Result: 27 July 2026
- After result, selected candidates will undergo a counselling/seat allotment process for TEIs
- Admission will be based on PET merit rank, category, and district preference
- NCTE-recognized TEIs across Assam offer D.El.Ed. seats
