📋 Step-by-Step Process
- Visit assamadmission.samarth.ac.in
- Click "Register" — create an account with your Email ID, Mobile Number and basic details. Name must exactly match your Class 10 Board Marksheet
- Login using your registered credentials
- Complete your full profile — personal details, educational qualifications, category details
- Upload all required documents (see Documents section below)
- Submit your profile — this completes Step 1
- After HS Results are declared, login again to complete Step 2 — select up to 10 preferred institutions and programmes in order of preference
- Wait for Merit List — check the portal for your allotment status
- If allotted a seat, accept the admission online and pay fees at the allotted institution as per schedule
- Report to the college on the specified date for document verification and final admission

The Directorate of Higher Education (DHE), Government of Assam has launched the SAMARTH Assam State Higher Education Admission Portal for the academic session 2026-27. This is a single centralised online platform for admission to Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) and Five-Year Integrated Masters Programme (FYIMP) in all Government, Provincialized, Private Aided, Government Model Colleges, and State Universities across Assam.
What is SAMARTH?
SAMARTH is an initiative by the Ministry of Education under the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Launched nationally in 2019 and adopted by Assam from the 2023-24 academic session, SAMARTH provides a fully managed, cloud-based, comprehensive ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system customised for Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). In Assam, the portal is known as the Assam State Higher Education Admission Portal and is accessible at assamadmission.samarth.ac.in.
Since 2023-24, the old manual and college-wise admission process has been completely abolished. All students who have passed Higher Secondary (Class 12) examinations must now apply through this single portal for UG admission in Assam.

Two Types of Admission
Non-CUET Admissions: Based on Class 12 / Higher Secondary marks (merit-based). Students who did not appear for CUET (Common University Entrance Test) apply under this category. Most Government and Provincialized colleges come under this category.
CUET Admissions: Based on CUET score. Central Universities and some State Universities require CUET scores for admission. Students can apply under both CUET and Non-CUET categories simultaneously on the same portal.
Two-Step Admission Process
The SAMARTH portal follows a structured two-step process:
Step 1 — Registration & Profile Completion: Available from 11 April 2026 (4:00 PM) onwards. Students register and complete their full profile including personal details, educational details, and document uploads. Step 1 remains open even after Step 2 commences.
Step 2 — Institution & Programme Selection: After Class 12 / HS results are declared, students log back in and select their preferred institutions and programmes. Up to 10 choices can be made. Dates to be announced.
Assam Govt Fee Waiver Scheme
The Government of Assam has introduced a fee waiver scheme to ensure poor and economically weaker students are not denied access to higher education. The scheme covers students seeking admission to 1st Year of BA, BSc, BCom (FYUGP). The fee waiver is linked directly to the SAMARTH portal — students must apply through SAMARTH to avail this benefit.
